A gay olde time.

My boyfriend just texted me to say he and our friends are having "a gay olde time" in Flint.

I wish I had stayed.
Something I've learned from not having a cell phone but having a wifi device, if you walk long enough you'll find a free access point. In the Atlanta airport it's in concourse A, around gate 21.

This is where I've camped out, sort of. I found an outlet (my iPod was down to 20%), but it's not in a comfortable space. I'm on the floor in an otherwise empty terminal.

The janitorial staff is very pleasant.

ATL Wifi

ATL airport claims to have wifi access. You have to sign up for a subscription though. Bogue.

Also, since I arrived at the airport shortly after midnight, everything was closing. No food nor beer available to me. Some places might have been sort of open, but they were doing that "gate half-closed so you're scared to come in, but we'll still serve our friends who work at neighboring businesses" thing. I chose to keep walking.

I was tempted to leave the airport, but the friendly Air Tran guy advised against it. I can't even remember why now.

I live in ATL now.

I asked the friendly guy if there was anything else he could do, and he offered to waitlist me for an overbooked 9 am flight.
Best news ever. Sadly.
I accepted.

I am now first in line after the nine people who have tickets but also might not have seats for the flight.

Boo...

We landed in time for me to see my flight take off for Denver.

I walked up to the counter where airport employees hang out and asked what I should do. A friendly guy told me I was only 10 minutes late. Hooray. Then he was silent for five minutes. I hoped he was working on getting me a flight, but I really had no idea.

Finally he told me I could fly to Denver from Atlanta at 2 pm on Saturday.

What?

Yeah! Two pm. I asked what I should do until then and he said "find a cozy corner in the airport."
For 14 hours.
Awesome.

I heart wifi.

Flint has so much free wifi, I get spoiled. Even Bishop Airport offers it for free.

Also, Air Tran currently has free wifi. This was great because, while I don't have a cell phone right now, I do have Google Voice. I spent the flight texting friends and nearly forgot about Air Tran being pretty inept at customer service earlier.
My friends and I ran in the rain from the restaurant to our favorite bar. I shouted along the way that I couldn't stay long. One glass of wine later, I was on my way to Bishop International Airport again.

I asked my boyfriend if he would be kind enough to wait while I went up to the counter to ask if I should fly out tonight or wait until tomorrow. They were confident I would make my connection, which had also been delayed.
I texted my boyfriend that I was off and he could head back downtown.
